Wolf Parade for Puerto Rico

Tax deductible
Hi folks, thanks for taking some time to read about our Campaign.
We're raising funds for disaster relief in Puerto Rico and giving away tickets to our tour dates in the process.

Puerto Rico is still undergoing a Humanitarian Crisis and we here at Wolf Parade Command & Control are asking for your help. People on the ground need clean water, food, and basic assistance. The goal of this GoFundMe is to make things a little easier for the people of Puerto Rico who have been devastated by natural disaster.

All proceeds will go to The Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund—housed at the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD).

100% of monies raised will be used to support immediate relief & long-term equitable rebuilding in Puerto Rico for the communities hit hardest by the storm.

Chosen Participants will receive 2 guest-list spots to a show of your choosing + signed Vinyl of our new record

Donation Details:
- $10 donation gets you the opportunity to receive a pair of tickets to a Wolf Parade show of your choosing + signed copy of our new Vinyl!

- We are giving away up to one pair of tickets for every show on our tour!

- Feel free to submit as many donations as you'd like.

- Winners will be chosen at random and notified 24 hours before each show date.

- This give away will continue to run through the end of our tour

- Those chosen will receive two spots on our guest list (you +1 friend)  and a signed vinyl album.

- Be sure to include the Date & Location of the show you would choose to attend in the comments of your donation.  (Dates can be found below)

Folks in PR could use a hand and together we can make a difference for people and families who are struggling with the rebuilding of their country.

Let's do it, together. Even if you don't live in a city we're playing on this run, we urge you to please consider donating....

Below is a first-hand account of the conditions in Puerto Rico from a fan of ours.

Peace 'oot

Letter from Julissa:

Hi, I'm writing to you 3 weeks after hurricane Maria devastated much of PR. The storm itself was a terrifying experience, over 200mph winds shook my apartment building and rattled every window and door to the point of breaking for over 24 hours.

The scale of the destruction on the island is still hard to grasp. Homes were flooded, roofs are gone, the majority of our infrastructure was destroyed. The entire population was left without electricity and drinking water. To this day, only about 25% of the island has access to drinking water (which we are supposed to boil for 3 minutes, just in case) and less than 10% has electricity. There was one glorious night where power was restored in my building and I was able to take a hot shower. The power didn't last long, but I felt human that night. I consider myself lucky, and extremely privileged to have had that opportunity for at least one night. That is how dire things are.

Communications were also knocked out and remain spotty throughout the island. It took nearly five days before I could get a hold of my parents. I cannot imagine what people that are still looking for their friends and family are going through.

Puerto Rico was not ready to face a crisis of this magnitude, and it quickly became apparent that the US Government wasn't either. Oxfam América has gone so far as to declare both local and federal disaster response as "outrageously slow and inadequate", and to add insult to injury, they sent Donald Trump over to throw paper towels at us while asking local government officials to praise his good work. There is a sense of desperation on the streets, where people are looking for gas, food, water, medicines, and money to acquire these things with. Many supermarkets are open, and their shelves are empty. Bottled water is nearly impossible to find anywhere on the island.

Last week, it was reported that people have been drinking water from toxic waste sites because no help has arrived.

People have died and will continue to suffer due to preventable diseases, and inhumane conditions if serious aid does not arrive in the most remote areas of the island soon.

There are good people doing everything they can to help others in the aftermath of the storm. The kindness of others is what has gotten me through these awful days. It will be years before my island fully recovers from this, but every little bit helps.
