Larry the Dog

On Friday December 6th at 4:13 pm, I, along with another Castle Rock neighbor, witnessed a hit and run involving Larry the Dog.  We stayed by his side waiting for Animal Control to arrive and help us.  Unfortunately, Larry did not survive this terrible accident and passed very quickly.  Out of respect for the grieving family, I do not want to include any details about what led up to the accident, the incident itself, or the events that have taken place since then.  I have been communicating with the owners over the last 24 hours since the accident and they are really sweet, kind-hearted people in our community,  Larry was part of a loving family including a husband and wife along with their 3 kids.  They got him as a puppy and he was 3 years old when he died.  He was often found sleeping with their family cat.  You can tell by all their pictures and videos on Facebook  that the entire family loved Larry as much as you love any member of your family.  As one would expect, the family is devastated.

So many people have reached out to me offering their condolences to the family and asking how they might be able to help.  Another fellow neighbor made a suggestion which gave me this idea...

I volunteer at the Buddy Center which is an animal shelter here in Castle Rock.  There are always puppies and dogs looking for their forever home.  I would like to raise enough money so that when the family is ready, they can find and adopt a new furry friend and help them heal their broken hearts.  

The cost of adoption depends on the age of the animal so it ranges anywhere from $75-250.  They will also need supplies like a collar, leash, toys, treats and food.  So any overage will be given to them in a gift card to use at the Buddy Center store for any additional items they may need.  I would like to be able to bless the family before Christmas so I will have this up until the 21st if you feel compelled to contribute.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
