I am making this go fund me page for my friend Heather Kappes whose son has broken his left hip.
This type of injury is very serious in a growing child. He has broken his femur at the neck where it connects to the head of his femur.  The head was also shattered in a few pieces. He has undergone a very complicated surgery to put everything back together. He has pins and a plate holding it together. In a growing child the femur needs blood supply to grow and live. With a break like this there is a 50-60% possibility that blood flow will not return and the ball will die requiring future surgeries such as a hip replacement. Many of you already know that Jacob had suffered a stroke in utero which has already compromised bloodflow, circulation, strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility in his left side. He has a long road to recovery and will not be able to use crutches because of his existing conditions due the stroke. He will need a full-time caregiver for two or more months depending on how he recovers. He will need a ramp built to get in and out of his house, he will not return to school for 2 or more months and his mother will be out of work for two or more months to be his caregiver depending on his recovery. The ramp that will be built for Jacob with this money will also help Heather's father who has recently been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and has multiple mobility issues himself. The end result I am hoping for with this go fund me page is to replace Heather's income for the next two months, build a ramp for Jacob, cover any expenses not covered by her insurance and facilitate any other modifications her home may need to accommodate Jacobs wheelchair.
