Hannah’s Hope

Meet my niece, Hannah Brooke Johnston. This beauty will turn 14 this summer!!! I started this drive to help my sister’s family as they currently are sitting at an ICU bedside in Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Again. You see, through no fault of her own, my sister contracted a virus callled CMV during her pregnancy with Hannah. That evil virus crossed the placenta at the crucial time of brain development and wreaked havoc on this sweet baby girl’s body. Hannah is quadriplegic. She is legally blind. She is fed through a tube in her stomach and gets nothing by mouth. She can’t walk. Or talk. Or care for a single need of her own. But she is NOT defined by her disabilities!!!! No way! She can smile! She can laugh! She can bring joy and light to a room in an instant!!! She is a living definition of innocence and joy and strength. We are blessed she is ours and count every moment a miracle and a blessing. As you all know, hospitalizations are expensive! Sure they have insurance (praise the Lord!). That does not cover time lost from work, gas to and from the hospital, cafeteria meals, etc. These things in themselves are expensive. My family is not pitiful by any means. Both parents work and nobody is going hungry. If this doesn’t raise a single dollar that’s ok, too. My heart was led to do this because I have had so many people reach out asking me how they could help. So here it is. Throw a couple bucks in to help fill a gas tank or buy a meal in the cafeteria. Should the blessings exceed this hospitalization, there is a 2004 handicapped van that could certainly use a little love and maintenance.
