With Love, Isabella

Isabella "Izzy" Faith was born prematurely at 36 weeks via c-section weighing only 3lbs 1oz. She was born with craniostynosis (multiple premature fusions of the skull), two holes in her heart, a faulty heart valve, a cleft pallet, thyroid disease, trisomy 12, and monosomy 12.  She also has a feeding tube.

Izzy was our first child, and of course her diagnosis overwhelmed us, but we loved her.

It was touch and go in the beginning as to whether she would make it or not, she needed two major surgeries within the first few months of life, a skull reconstruction and an open heart surgery.

Before her first major surgery she got really sick and they had to keep her medically paralyzed. The hospital she was in didn't feel cmfortable treating her anymore and said she probably wouldn't make it through the surgery. It was at this point the doctors asked us if we as parents wanted to have her transfered to Atlanta or just let her go.

And so we went to Atlanta, Izzy was life flighted on her mothers birthday.

When we got to Atlanta we met with their geneticists about Izzy's monosomy and trisomy 12. They told us about all of the complications she could have due to her genetic disorder.

it was obvious that the geneticist was extremeley angry that we didn't care about what problems she may or may not have.

She told us to "Consider the ramifications" (of not giving up on Izzy)

We kicked them out and told hospital staff that we never wanted to see them in our room again.

Three and a half years later, we've experienced those ramifications:

Her First Smile

The Way She Laughs

How It Feels When She Wraps Her Arms Around Us

-It's hard sometimes, sure, but she is a special gift from God and we are thankful

It's never easy to accept help, even when you need it.

I remember once when I wanted to turn down someones help because of my foolish pride.

I tried to say "No, we are ok"

And he said"

"Don't rob a man of his blessings"

I can't ever argue with that.

So if you can help, we appreciate it, it means so much to us, because we can concentrate on Izzy.

Any donations will be used to cover expenses for medical expenses and hospital stays.

If we are lucky enough to cover those expenses, Isabella has several equipment needs that her insurance won't pay for, primarily a comfortable and safe medical bed/chair so she can get her gtube feeds without getting wrapped up in the cord or pulling her gtube out.
