Wipe Out Isle of Wight School Lunch Debt

Donation protected
UPDATE May 24, 2019:

Isle of Wight County public schools has announced that children WILL be allowed to participate in Field Day, regardless of lunch account status. However, graduating seniors who have unpaid lunch balances will not be able to attend graduation. I will be donating all proceeds to Smithfield High School, Windsor High School (or both if enough is raised) to pay off senior student lunch debts.

My name is Karen and I am from Suffolk, Virginia. I saw a news segment stating that  Isle of Wight County Schools has announced that students with lunch debts will not be allowed to participate in Field Day. While my children do not personally attend Isle of Wight County schools several close friends' kids do. The fact that these children are being singled out and excluded due to circumstances beyond their control is shameful.

The deadline for paying debts is June 10th. NO child should be punished for not being able to afford lunch! Children as young as five will be forced to sit out and will not understand why they are being "punished".

All donations will be given by me to the Isle of Wight County Child Nutrition Department to pay student lunch debts, with current year Elementary student accounts taking first priority. If funds remain, they will then be donated to Middle and High school current year student lunch debts.

Let's get this debt knocked out! Please share!
