Windsor Knolls Students are Heading for Global Finals in Kansas City!
These Windsor Knolls Middle School 7th graders (Duncan , Nicole , and Skylar) competed at the Destination Imagination Maryland State Tournament on the campus of UMBC. Known as team Woah! (intentionally misspelled), the trio took 1st place in a field of 15 teams competing at the middle school level in DI's Improvisational Challenge, Heads Up! In addition becoming the State Champions, the team also earned a Destination Imagination Renaissance Award for excellence in performance!
Winning the Maryland State Championship now qualifies the team for participation in Destination Imagination’s Global Finals which will be held May 22-25 in Kansas City, Missouri!
While the team is thrilled to advance, the registration cost for attending Global Finals has absolutely skyrocketed. To get to Kansas City, they need your help! Teams now must pay a flat registration fee of $5500. The FLAT RATE structure is crushing to smaller DI teams: while a full 7-person team pays $785 per family, our 3-person team is paying $1833 per family. In years past, registration would also include lodging; but REGISTRATION FEES NO LONGER INCLUDE LODGING.
Total expenses for these families to travel to Kansas City, stay in a hotel, and register for the event will approach $10,000. Your donation will help these kids get to Global Finals and unleash their creativity on Kansas City!
