Will’s Warriors - Conquering Cancer

Donation protected
William Denney is no stranger to battles. At the age of 8 he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. In an effort to support Will, spread awareness, and raise funds for juvenile diabetes research, his family formed Will’s Warriors.

Just two years later, in the aftermath of a fluke accident, it was discovered that Will had a brain mass. Following extensive testing and several years of monitoring, it was decided that this is likely benign.

Despite these obstacles, Will successfully navigated his teen years, completed high school, began college courses, relocated from Wyoming to Oregon, adopted a cat, got his own apartment, bought a car, and in November of 2018 embarked on a new adventure when he joined his childhood friends and moved to Scottsdale, AZ.

Not long after relocating to Arizona, he noticed a sore on his leg. After several weeks of treating it himself, his doctor diagnosed it as an infected cyst and attempted, unsuccessfully, to drain it. Multiple additional visits and several rounds of antibiotics didn’t resolve the issue and Will was referred to a Wound Care specialist where a biopsy was obtained. Several more weeks of treatment ensued while pathology results were pending. A final report has now been received with a diagnosis of Angiosarcoma, a rare type of cancer arising from the lining of the blood vessels. MRI imaging revealed several additional lesions that aren’t visible or palpable, including muscular involvement.

Surgical removal will be required, and pending final staging, additional treatment will be determined. A flurry of testing and consultations are scheduled in the upcoming weeks.

Will exhausted the majority of his savings with the move just prior to the onset of his symptoms, has had to miss work for multitudes of appointments and treatments, and has several expenses not covered in full by insurance. His diabetes compounds expenses, the complexity of the treatment, and potentially his recovery. All of his family live 1200+ miles away and will be traveling to be with him during this time.

All support is greatly appreciated. Any financial contributions will be utilized by Will to offset medical expenses and supplement daily needs due to lost wages from time off work.

Updates will be added as new information is obtained and a definitive plan of care is in place. Thank you so much to everyone for all of the love and concern extended to Will and our family.
