Will Mulders Foundation for Autism

Team Willpower Raising Awareness and Money For Autism Inclusion.

Will's Story: Will Mulders was born in 1998 and lives in Martinez with his parents and sister, Julia. Although Will is non-verbal autistic with some physical disabilities, his family has refused to allow that to define him.

The Mulders family established the Will Mulders Foundation for Autism in 2016 with the mission to increase public awareness and broadcast a message of inclusion and hope to those affected by autism.

Will graduated from Alhambra High School in 2016, thanks to his tenacity and hard work, strong family support, the dedication of his teacher Jessica Kartchner, and the student aides who worked tirelessly to teach him how to communicate with an iPad, his "voice to the world."

Will is a busy, active 19-year old who love rocky road ice cream, the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, the beach, horseback riding, kayayking, and Disneyland, where his favorite ride is "It's a Small World." He works out four times a week at the YMCA in Pleasant Hill, where he gets weekly swim lessons and likes to use the elliptical, which the family refers to as the "Williptical."

Will also competes in duo races as "Team Willpower" with his dad in 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons. Team Willpower is running the Portland Marathon in October 8th, 2017 and hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon, the oldest existing marathon in the world. Runners and spectators cheer Will on at his races. It makes him happy and puts a smile on his face.

Peter will push his son Will (actually Will is pushing him) 26.2 Miles to raise awareness for Autism and to raise money to help fund programs designed for persons with Autism.

Funds raised in 2017 will be divided between:

a) Ainsley's Angels, a nonprofit, which helps include the Special Needs in races. Connecting runners with the Special Needs by pushing them in races and using raised money for buying race joggers.

b) Zia Ranch. A therapeutic horseback riding program for Special Needs kids and adults.

We Need Your Financial Support.

Any size contribution is appreciated, you will make a difference in the life of an autistic child or adult.
