William to stay in Australia

Donation protected
We have set this page up on behalf of William who is not yet an adult . We have known William over the past few years through church and watched him 'growing up'. We watched him achieve the role of Head Boy of Servite College in Perth in 2016. We where concerned when he recently found out that he was not an Australian Citizen and his study visa had lapsed. He now has a briging visa with study rights, allowing him to study but not work here so we were encouraged to act.

As school teachers ourselves we recognise Williams academic ability and excellent character.  Along with Church friends and people who know William we have launched this campaign together with William to assist him to pay for university tuition, allowing him to stay in Australia and achieve his study goals. All funds will go towards his study/tuition fees and then living expenses should the goal be reached.

Please read below and we encourage you to support William. Thank-you already to all of his old school teachers both primary and highschool, church and community members who know William who have already donated or expressed positive messages.

As his unversity place is accepted and details come together we will continue to update you.

Warm regards
Cathryn and Paul

Below is an overview of Williams Story by him.

My name is Will and I am 17 years old.
I was the 2016 Head Boy at my school in Perth. Recently I completed my Year 12 ATAR exams and I intended on doing Medicine at University in 2017. When applying to Tertiary Admissions, I was shocked to find out that I was not actually an Australian Citizen, despite completing all of my schooling here in Perth. This meant that  I was not able to attend university or even stay in Perth, my home for the last 10 years without the correct visa permissions.

I was born in Zambia, at 7 my mum came to Australia and after a few months called for me to come to Australia too.  After a month, she then left me with well meaning Aunties who enabled me to get an education but who are unable to support me financially.

I am faced with a tough set of circumstances to stay and then study in Australia. One possible outcome is that I may be forced to return to Zambia. I am working hard to sort out my visa with immigration and with the help of friends have applied to study here in Australia and eventually achieve my dream of becoming a Doctor.  If I am able to be granted a study visa, I have the ATAR marks to gain a place at University. If I have to return to Zambia I will need to apply to come back as a student. Either way I will only be able to return if I have the funds to pay  as an international student.

I unfortunately will be an international student and until I am granted a study work visa, I'll be unable to work. I am asking for support to assist me to pay the first year of my international university fees ($18000) and living expenses ($14000) which I have based on 2016 fee structures. If I were unable to pay tuition and was to return to Zambia, I would be going back unable to support myself in what is now a foreign country to me. There would be very few other options available to me in Zambia. I would be extremely thankful for your assistance.
