Donation protected
William (Bill) Ervin Hixon (66), went to be at peace on March 28, 2017 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his wife and children, in Bristol, IN. He was born October 28, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to William Sr. and Jacqueline Hixon. Bill was a graduate of Arlington High in Indianapolis and attended Indiana State where he majored in radio and television. Bill met his wife of 44 years Linda (Rodino) Hixon through a mutual group of friends in Terre Haute. They would then marry on December 29, 1972. The couple would go on to have three children: William E. Hixon III, Thomas J. Hixon, and Melinda S. Hixon.

Bill was a 1976 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Upon graduation, Bill became a K-9 officer for the Goshen Police Department for 16 years. During this time, he was also the owner and operator of K-9 Obedience in Goshen, IN where he taught basic dog obedience, as well as working with local law enforcement’s K-9 programs. Bill continued to serve his community by becoming a Reserve Officer for the Bristol Police Department. Bill then went on to work for Culligan for 10 years. However, he went on disability in 2003 due to neuropathy and ultimately left the company in 2008. Bill lost his life insurance when he turned 65 per company policy and was unable to gain private coverage due to his liver disease.

William was a loving family man. He was the proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren. William loved watching NASCAR, Dale Jarrett was his favorite driver, Notre Dame sports, and was also an avid Colts and White Sox fan.

The family is asking for any assistance in helping to pay for a funeral expenses for Bill, as well as tombstone.
