Wildlife Artist of the Year Award

Help Emerging Fleurieu Peninsula Artist Brooke Walker attend the David Shepherd 'Wildlife Artist of the Year Awards'  in London this June.

Earlier this April I received the very exciting news that my painting 'Okapia Johnstoni' was accepted into the 'Wildlife Artist of the Year Awards' in London this June. This is the first major Wildlife Art Award that I have had a piece of artwork accepted into and my first time exhibiting internationally. I am extremely humbled and grateful to have my piece showing next to some of my wildlife art idols.

I have always had a great love of animals and nature, stemming back to my childhood on a hobby farm in McLaren Vale. As an adult I am now greatly concerned in the conservation of wildlife and their habitat throughout not only Australia but also the world. I feel more needs to be done to preserve these great creatures for future generations which is also a strong belief of the award foundation. Each original piece in the exhibition is for sale, with profits supporting the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s wildlife conservation projects across Africa and Asia. Since 2007, the event has raised more than £350,000 to help protect some the world’s most endangered wildlife. (If you would like to read more please click here)

As you can imagine, I am very excitied to be given the opportunity to show my work with this wonderful organisation and would love to attend the exhibtion opening.

This is where I need your help............... I am hoping to raise $3500 to be able to fly over and stay in London. To attend the opening night, talk with other world renowned wildife artists and conservationist, and scout out new galleries that may be interested in showing more of my work. It is my goal to make this trip the catalyst for growing my career as a wildlife artist and therefore helping build awareness for animal conservation.

Because I'm not comfortable just asking for your donation without a thank you I am going to put all names into a draw to win some prizes.

1st Draw = Original Charcoal Drawing by Brooke    Walker (Periclitatus Series)*

2nd/3rd Draw = Limited Edition Signed Giclee Print (Pericliatus Series - value $250)

4th Draw = Fleurieu Peninsula Hamper including Wines from Whitefeather Red and membership voucher from Willunga Farmers Market.

Please make sure you leave your name and tick the receive updates check box so I can pop you into the draw.

Draw will be conducted on the 10th of June 2017

*These prizes may change depending on how close to the $3500 goal we get. Everyone who donates will receive 1 entry into the draw regardless of donation amount. Interstate and International backers will only be entered into the 2nd/3rd draw due to shipping and prize logistics.

I really appreciate all the support and kind words I have received in regards to my work and this achievement. It surely gives me the warm fuzzies :)

Thank you!
