Wild Rose Soap Co. Fire Recovery

Donation protected
Please help us rebuild the Wild Rose Soap Company after the fire that occured on Dec. 4th at our home in Shepherdstown, WV.  The business is based out of our house. My sons and I were asleep at the time of the fire, which began with an electrical fire in the water heater fuse box. We are very thankful to have gotten out in time.  They anticipate that our home will be ready to move back into in March. Our soap making business was based out of our home. All of our soap making equipment, raw materials (essential oils, olive oil, cocout oil, shea butter, locally sourced beeswax, palm oil, cocoa butter, thermometer, scale, blender, pots, herbs, natural colorants, molds), and curing racks, were destroyed in the fire.  Our soaps take 4 to 6 weeks to cure before we can begin selling them at stores and markets again. With your help to purchase equipment and raw materials we hope to be back operating again as soon as possible.  Currently, we have our soaps at 30 stores, including the Vintage Lady in Harper's Ferry ( who is doing an amazing fundraiser by selling soaps for us and donating the profits) Black Dog Coffee Company in Shenandoah Junction, WV, German Street Coffee & Candelry and O'Hurley's in Shepherdstown, Tamarack, Lost River Trading Post, Bobbie's Gifts in Mercersburg, PA, the Wee Cycle in Martinsburg, WV, to name a few local ones.  Our finished soaps survived the fire (they were in a different part of the house) and have been moved to a safe storage unit thanksfully, so we will be able to continue to stock these places for a short while until we can rebuild on the equipment/material side of things and find a place to make the soap in.   The damage to the soap business is likely around $3,000. Our home deductible is $2500 for personal property loss, and any funds we receive can also help ease that burden on us a bit.

On the personal side, I'm a stay at home working mom of a 5 month old and a 4 year old, who were home napping  with me when this happened; we are all safe but of course very shaken up.  We escaped and ran door to door until we found someoe home to call 911 for us. The smoke and water damage was extensive by the time the fire departments (11 trucks from all around) came. The fire depts were amazing. Everyone who has been helping us through this hard time has been incredible and we cannot thank you all enough for your help. It means the world to us that people care so much that we rebuild.

We are organizing a Valentine's Market with local artists Feb. 10th at Town Run Taphouse in Shepherdstown. We hope to be back up running by then and have soaps for sale again there! We will pay your generosity forward once we're back on our feet with our annual Mother's Day Gift bag drive for the homeless, the Veteran's Day Gift Drive for the shelter and hospital, children's Christmas charity work, and other things we organize or support throughout the year.
