Who Are They

Donation protected
A few years ago I was the Supervising Location Manager for the feature film "The Soloist." The film was based on the true story of a downtown Los Angeles homeless man who suffers from schizophrenia. Filming on skid row streets I would go to work daily thinking "but for the Grace of God there go I."

My department interacted with many skid row agencies who's approach to the situation are different. One common conclusion about the homeless was that the general public had no idea of who the homeless are and why they are in this situation. This gave me the inspiration to write "Who Are They," a short film about a man researching the subject of homelessness for a film he wants to produce. He gets an education on the depth and diversity of homeless people.

The film will be shot within three days at five locations, using two homeless agencies for technical support. It is a desire to involve homeless or formerly homeless people in the production.

The funds will be used for the production of the film, cast, crew, equipment, locations, permits, insurance, post-production and music rights. We will begin principal photography late May or early June.

I ask that you join this project to help shed more light on the plight of many of our citizens. When the film is complete you and those who view it will be able to answer the question "Who Are They."

Thank you.
