Fitness icon Kurt Osburn is poised to launch his endurance sports World Record quest – Wheelie Across America – after years of dreaming & training & determination to offer kids & physically challenged people new opportunities to regain active healthy lives.  He is using the WAA project as the means to raise awareness & donations for organizations that assist sidelined people in overcoming whatever has prevented them from achieving the freedom of personal physical activity.  You can see more of the story on his website: http://wheelieacrossamerica.com/   [“Wheelie” is a stunt that is done by riding a bike on its back tire alone while balancing the front wheel entirely suspended in the air throughout the ride.  For Kurt’s third World Record he will ride  a wheelie on his BMX bike, all the way from California to Florida, as he did for his second World Record, in 1999.]

Kurt – and Kurt alone – is the man behind this phenomenal mission.  I was brought into his project at the eleventh hour after momentum had broken down and prospects seemed grim.  He conquered the grueling coast-to-coast goal once before and has a Guinness World Record to prove it.  In that first 1999 experience, he had help – sponsors had offset round-trip production costs,  a dealership helped with an RV & fuel, a motel chain donated lodging, various vendors donated food, etc. – but this time around the cupboard is bare. When it came down to the wire, I’ve watched him take out loans & use his personal credit cards rather than give up his dream of helping America regain STRENGTH & HEALTH.

I have so much admiration for Kurt - his commitment, passion, and selflessness are unmatched and his strength-and-stamina-training physical sacrifices are out of this world!  I decided to turn to crowdsourcing because in my heart I believe that when America catches on & sees what Kurt is accomplishing – and why – people will help cover the hard costs of this journey, and make sure (after 9 weeks on the road, away from his Physical Trainer job) that he still has a home to go back to when WAA concludes in December, and it’s time to tackle the journey back home.

Kurt is riding to help people regain HOPE.  When that long endless road stretches as far as he can see, it’s Kurt’s unwavering passion & purity of heart that makes him keep pushing ahead.  When we hit obstacles in our own lives, sometimes we all just need to see someone else showing us the way – showing us that it CAN be done – seeing the living proof that inspires us to get back up & keep putting one foot in front of the other, step by seemingly insignificant step, until “suddenly” you’ve attained the impossible.

My hope is that people will reach out and help assure that the adage “no good deed goes unpunished” is NOT what awaits Kurt at the end of his nearly-3,000-mile ride across America. At 10 miles per hour. Up to 70 miles per day.  Allll across hundreds of miles of desert.  1.8 million pedal revolutions.  Alone.  For people in desperate need of genuine inspiration.  For you.  #NEVERGIVEUP
