Christmas stockings for homeless

Donation protected
Hey everyone!

My name is Rebecca Nobrega, co-anchor for CTV Northern Ontario’s 5p.m. newscast and CEO & Founder of “Aspire to Inspire with bbnobrega".   My mission is to serve individuals who need a helping hand, one person at a time.

For the month of November, I want to spread awareness of homelessness in Sudbury by creating as many Christmas care stockings as I can. Last year, I made 350 care packages, and want to another year brighter! This will only be possible with your help!

The care stockings consist of a number of basic necessities including: hats, scarves, gloves, socks, non-perishable foods, deodorant, soap, a comb, tampons, toothbrushes and more. I would also like to prepare animal care packages containing such items as a bag of food, a toy, treats, blankets, collars, sample bags of food, unopened food and much more. Now, why stockings? Christmas stockings bring joy and help us find that little child that still lives within us.

My love of giving started very young. As a child, I would help my mom create loot bags which we would drop off to children in shelters.  The thought of them not having toys to play with on a daily basis, let alone on Christmas day, broke my heart. I would grab my untouched bin of toys and demanded that they be wrapped and brought to a shelter.  I want to give back and show these individuals how loved they are.

I am excited to announce Aspire to Inspire with bbnobrega’s drive has the support of CTV Northern Ontario for a second year.

I am reaching out to you today, seeking filled stockings or monetary donations to help me create a well-stocked Christmas stockings with all basic necessities for the homeless and items to relieve furry friends at the animal shelters.

If you're wondering what to put in the stockings, here are some ideas:

·         Soap
·         Toothbrush
·         Comb
·         Deodorant
·         Hat
·         Gloves
·         Scarf
·         Granola bars
·         Instant Noodles
·         Oatmeal packets
·         Plastic Cutlery
·         Socks
·         Feminine hygiene products
·         Chap Stick
·         Something fun :) ex. a book, crossword puzzle, etc.

For all those furry friends, please only new bags of food, toys etc... as they will be given to various shelters for animals to enjoy.

My deadline is November 30th.

I look forward to partnering with you on my journey to make Christmas brighter for the homeless this holiday season!

Take Care,

Rebecca Nobrega
