Since 1993, A World Fit For Kids! has responded to our community’s needs through our afterschool programs and exemplary healthy behaviors and personal empowerment approaches and trainings in low-income neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

A World Fit for Kids!
needs your help in the sucess of our Mentors in Motion (MIM) leadership training for 2017! (Winner of the CA Governor's Gold medal council award for outstanding organization!) worldfitforkids.org

WHAT IS MIM
? A 5 day, 5 module training program for LA Unified School district teens on becoming a mentor and a leader to their younger peers while preparing them for the workplace, and life!

Module 1:
Physical Activity Leadership Training (PAL)
Teens learn how to encourage and mentor younger peers in physical activities by facilitating their own programs.

Module 2:  Self Empowerment Training
Teens identify their strengths and how to set achievable personal goals with leadership qualities.

Module 3: Learning to Lead Training
Next they learn how to conduct professional relationships as a mentor with positive coaching.

Module 4: Work Readiness Training
Workplace professionalism, employment laws, and portfolio building.

Module 5: First Aid & CPR Certification
Teens learn to recognize an emergency and the necessary steps to take from a certified trainer!

WHERE the funds go:  Our fund goal will be able to provide a minimum of 1000 teens to participate in our program, providing facilities, trainings, equipment, healthy meals, materials, and getting kids certified!

WHO you benefit: Students from several LA Unified school district neighborhoods. The funds will also allow WFIT to broaden our reach to implement programs into more LAUSD High Schools, as well as other school districts surrounding Los Angeles!

 High school and college students have become positive role models, are improving the quality of physical activities, and are influential advocates for quality physical activity as well as social and emotional  wellness. Key findings among those participating in WFIT’s Physical Activity Leadership (PAL) and Mentors in MotionSM training include the following:

 Ninety percent became more confident in their physical activity planning skills and learned specific strategies and tactics to use with younger students;

Almost two-thirds changed their approaches to physical activity and became more intentional in their work;

Three-quarters of Middle School students reported feeling more confident and goal-oriented and 88% of teachers and staff from other organizations that participated in WFIT trainings reported positive changes in students behavior and focus;

Eight out of ten High School and Middle School participants reported improvement in their academic performance;

Teens surveyed who completed WFIT’s Mentors in Motion teen training 96% graduated from high school and 76% are currently enrolled in or have completed community college or university degrees;

Over 16% of current Coach-Mentors who work in WFIT’s afterschool programs were once teen participants who completed the WFIT Mentors in MotionSM teen training.
