Chris Newell Awaits a Heart Transplant

 

          Chris  has been a dedicated employee  at Brooks Brothers in Short Hills for over 35 years.  He rarely missed a day of work  or took a vacation.  He became one of the best salespersons in the country with a keen fashion eye and a true affection for his customers and colleagues. 




     I have had the great pleasure of working with Chris for many years.  Chris is the kind of person who would give anyone the shirt off his back or his last dollar and always with a big smile .     He would take the time to make origami birds for each child who  visited him with their parents and would always tell his name  as  "Chris as in Kringle" .       He always made sure everyone looked amazing and felt great    He is a very generous kind and thoughtful person , who also happens to be fiercely independent . 



          Chris has been suffering from severe congestive heart failure , he has been been in and out of the hospital, he has had a stroke, heart attacks, and three heart surgeries . This past February Chris received a Left Ventricular Assist Device or LVAD which is maintaining his heart until he can receive  much needed heart transplant.  The device has enabled him to recover to where he is out of rehab and going thru the many  procedures required for the transplant approvals. 

      Chris's family has been humbled by the outpouring of concern , kind words and prayers by many asking how they might help.  We are establishing  this campaign to provide a way to contribute toward his future  and to assist Chris through this very difficult time.


         Donations here are so very sincerely appreciated and will go directly toward Chris's past and future medical  expenses, his rehabilitation  and living expenses, including repairing his home so he may retain his independence.  


        Chris has a long road ahead of him , but he has displayed amazing  strength and courage thru it all  and with our support  and prayers he will get through this.
