#WeStandUnited
On the 21st of April 2019, a series of coordinated bomb explosions took place in Sri Lanka killing hundreds of innocent people gathered for Easter Sunday mass.
As per reports, the first explosion had taken place at 8.45 am at St. Anthony’s Church Kochchikade and St. Sebastian's Church Katuwapitiya followed by Zion Church in Batticaloa.
There were three more reported explosions at the Kingsbury, the Shangri-La hotel and the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Colombo.
Currently, the death toll from Sunday’s multiple terror attacks has risen up to 359 while 500 and more are injured.
Sri Lanka already suffered enough through a brutal 30-year civil war and experienced 10 years of peace. Sri Lankans was never ready for this attack and this brings our dark days back where we used to live in fear of death.

SLSU of Western Sydney university bears the Sri Lankan flagship with pride and aims to participate in various community activities and events to establish a constructive platform for a shared goal of connectivity and promoting an authentic Sri Lankan culture.

Currently, their team of volunteers are gathering essential goods and assisting the hospitals in the Colombo area with their needs. As many of the hospitals have been inundated with wounded victims, the less needy have given up their beds for those in a more critical condition. As a result many of them are now sleeping on the floor with little or no bedding so we have made it a priority to provide assistance in this area with
items such as mattresses and pillows. The hospitals are also lacking sanitary products for infants and the elderly which we
are also gathering at various collection points from local donors. Our team aims to travel to the hospital in Batticaloa in the next week or so as we understand the conditions for patients are somewhat harsher as a result of being in a more rural area of Sri Lanka.
You can support us by donating however much you can. Every dollar counts!
