We're Broke — Help!
Tax deductible
Borzoi Rescue - Northern California's annual expenses for rescue have been low for the last few years (thankfully). That allowed us to accumulate a large amount in cash reserves. Even so, the 22 Thurston County rescues in January wiped us out financially. It cost over $30,000 to vet and place these dogs, who were mostly young and all in need of spay/neuter, vaccines, worming, etc.
Our Kai — 22 months old and critically injured from being hit by a car — spent seven agonizing days in the hospital. We are happy to report that after $5400 in vet care, Kai is thriving and expected to have a long and healthy life. All 22 of the Thurston County Borzoi are well and in loving forever homes!
We learned one BIG lesson from the TC 22 — it currently costs about $1000 to take a healthy Borzoi into rescue and prepare it for placement. NBRF tells us they are finding the same thing, When we rescue a not-so-healthy Borzoi, costs soar.
Right now we have only $216 in the bank and a $5000 debt to NBRF. That's not enough to help even one rescue Borzoi. The next funds from the Beverly Taylor Trust will not be dispersed until late Spring of 2018.
We are proud of our 35 year track record of successful placements. Prompt vet care and successful placement is the gift BR-NC was organized to give.
Please help Borzoi by donating any amount you can toward paying off our debt and being ready for the next Borzoi in need!
