Wendy's War Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
"I have breast cancer. They found two different kinds in the same breast."

That dreadful text arrived at 5:36pm on May 15. If you know Wendy, you know her as a strong, powerful woman who is always true to herself, tells it like it is, and doesn't take any shit. With that toughness though comes a tender heart who is always the first one to step in and help anyone in need. She ends each of her yoga classes with "let me know if you need anything." And she doesn't mean just yoga stuff...she means ANYTHING!

Well the time has come for us to step in and help Wendy fight the war that is cancer. No one can tell the story of Wendy's journey better than the woman herself:

Wendy's Story

Friends.....on Wednesday I was told that I have breast cancer. About a month ago I was genetically tested for brca2 (breast cancer gene) and was found to be positive. As was my sister. I had a 3D mammogram about 6 months ago and it came back “clear”. When my internal med doctor found out that I carry the gene he ordered a breast MRI and that’s where the cancer was found. Thank God!

As some of you know my youngest sister was diagnosed late in the fall as well. This is a lot for one family to take but we are pretty damn strong. Some people have asked me how I can be so straightforward about it and my answer is this… It is the only way to be about it. Women have been taught to hide it, keep it a secret, be ashamed of it, and not share. That is just plain bullshit.

Women, men, whatever you are, knowledge is power. The only way to get this out there is to just say it. Women if you haven’t had a mammogram in the last year get your ass off the couch and go get one. And if you’re still not satisfied with the answer ask for an MRI.

Right now I am waiting for one final test to come back that will determine my course of treatment. I will for sure keep you posted.

My plan is to kick it in its ass! Am I scared, yes. Am I pissed off, yes. Have I gone to a dark place and back many times, yes. Am I going to be OK, Hell yes! Love you all! ❤️

Be a Warrior for Wendy

Wendy is still waiting for that final test to figure out the course of treatment, but undoubtedly has a challenging journey ahead. Please consider being one of Wendy's Warriors and joining her in the fight by:

1. making a donation to help cover Wendy's medical costs
2. sharing the link to your Facebook Timeline
3. showing her some love through your texts, calls, Facebook messages, and in-person (maybe she'll even let you hug her!)

Wendy has and continues to inspire so many each and every day. Let's band together and take our turn to give back what she has given us. As Wendy heads into the battle against cancer, let's march with her and show her the strong warriors we are and help her "kick cancer in the ass!"
