Welch Family Fire
Today 10/9/2017 the Welch Family lost their home from the Santa Rosa fires. Buffy and the kids got the call from Tom ( Tom was busy at his job battling fires) to leave last night at midnight. They did not get to take anything with them. This morning they learned that nothing was left of their home. They lost everything. We are all heartbroken for them and to early to help them with items and things. Right now we need to support them with our prayers and friendship. This family is strong and has a great bond and will in time build that comfort of a home again as a family. But they could use our love and support right now. They are very generous in community service and giving back. They do so much for others and the community and it is our time to give back and support them. Please will you join me first in lifting them up in prayers as they go through this time and figure out the next step. Many of their neighbors lost their homes also. And if possible lets help them with some immediate expenses to just show our love and support and give back to them as they are always so generous and supportive to so many. Buffy, Thomas, Megan, Aunt Marie and Molly the family dog are safe at her dads in Corning and Tom has stayed behind to fight the fires and save others homes. Keep them in our prayers as they are separated right now in a time I am sure they need each other. Thank you for all the prayers for them.+ Read More

Thank you all for all the help and prayers for the Welch family. They are feeling very blessed to have had offers for rental homes in Santa Rosa. They choose one this week and the additional blessing is it is partly furnished. They are settling into a rental this week and hope to get the kids back to school once the school opens. This will be a long process for all families and they will need our love and support for some time. Go Fund me is requiring I post a few items to prove this is a real family that lost their home. All I can say is if you google Tom Welch there is many newspaper articles on this family and about their loss. So they want me to post who I am and how I am connected to the family. My name is Margo Wheeler and I live in Colusa Ca and I have been close friends with the family from when they lived in Colusa. Buffy and I met each other because we both enjoyed scrapbooking and became very close friends. Even enjoying trips to Disneyland and Utah for scrapbooking events . We share time every year on a scrapbook retreat in Petaluma. She is one of my closest friends and I miss her greatly since they moved but am grateful we have remained close friends. The next thing they would like to know is how the funds will be spent. The family lost everything and this will help them replace necessary items and rebuild some of what was lost and I know their hearts as they will help others that are facing the same things. They also want me to tell you how they will receive this money. This money will only go directly into the Welchs bank account through go fund me and will I will not have access to any of the funds. Thank you again for your generous help to this family. I can not even imagine what all it must be like for all these families that lost so much. I thank you for reaching out and helping this family. I know they are very grateful for all the help and care and love.

The effects of today’s fires in the north bay are hitting quite close to home for your Mill Valley Firefighters. Many of us have homes in the area impacted by the fires including our Fire Chief Tom Welch. When the fire started burning his neighborhood near Coffee Park in Santa Rosa early this morning, he was out doing what he could to save his home and others. After fighting off the falling embers, the fire claimed his home as another casualty, but he and his family were able to get out safely. Even after losing his home, he continued to help how he could by assisting in the evacuation of a nearby nursing home burning his hands in the process. Please keep his family as well as all the others in your thoughts as days go on. If you feel inclined check out the donation page in our bio to help his family.
