We need help for rare Surgery

Donation protected

This is me and my husband Joe. We have been married 18 years, have two pretty great kids, couple dogs, a home, some bills.. Typical paycheck to week before paycheck kinda life. Back in August, we had a really big work weekend. Long hours, lots of running around, stress, then success of pulling it all off! Came home, had some dinner. Joe, being exhausted and full, dozed off in his chair. When he woke up, our whole lives were changed. He seemed unable to focus, unsure on his feet. We figured he was over tired and went to bed. Next day he still wasn't feeling well, stayed home from work, same thing again next day, except we noticed the left side of his face wasn't moving. Took him to emergency room, they sent us home. Waited for an appointment with primary care, waited for C.t scan, waited for M.R.I after Two months it was confirmed, Joe had had a stroke. After looking deeper, they have diagnosed him with a super rare progressive cerebrovascular disease called Moyamoya.
Side note, even with insurance at this point, we owe around $10 Grand.. Is what it is, right?!
So, progressive means surgery to get better, no medication will unblock those arteries in his brain. To see if he is a good candidate for surgery we need an Angiogram...and at this point our insurance informs us that they cover No Surgical procedures what so ever! If we would like to pay out of pocket,$30,000.. they will need a percentage down. We are at a loss! Looking into other insurance, the Moyamoya foundation, Rare Disease Foundation and such for help. Then, after we find out (fingers crossed) that he is a good candidate, Surgery will need to be done at Stanford, in California. Which means travel, hotels and I don't know what yet.
If you know us, you know we really do not ask for help. Rather we like to help out instead, but the more we go through, and the deeper we get, I see we really can not do this alone. I am a huge believer in every little bit helps, and trust me, I will be doing all I can to make more money. Just don't know how much this will take.
I appreciate you reading our story.. Our life. I appreciate even good thoughts coming our way. From the very bottom of my heart.. Much love.
