The 500 year anniversary of the first documented circumnavigation of the earth by the Magellan expedition is in 2019.
The Magellan Project will complete the first documented retracing of the original circumnavigation.
Five ships with 270 souls onboard left the SW coast of Spain in 1519. Three years later one of the ships, the Victoria, made it back to Spain with 18 survivors to tell the tale.
The Magellan Project is intent upon purchasing the 48' Cherubini schooner Victoria. She was built in 1983 and will serve as the educational platform to complete the retracing while conducting public outreach education along the way. A documentary will also be produced.
Please help us raise the funds needed to purchase the Victoria. All supporters of the project will be welcome to join us at various ports of call along the way.
