We are sure that at least one of you have heard one time or another the heartbreak a family goes through over the loss of a loved one or maybe you have experienced a tragedy yourself. A sudden loss of a parent, spouse or family member is extremely difficult as one can only imagine.
In August 2008, tragedy struck Michele Zakrzewski and her family. Her husband Rob suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 43 while celebrating at his nieces wedding. Rob left behind a loving family including his wife, two children, siblings, in-laws and nieces and nephews who loved him very much. Unfortunately due to economic times Michele and her kids were not left with much in the way of financial security. Times have been very hard for Michele. She was left alone to care for unpaid bills, a mortgage, and two very young children. While struggling financially, in December 2013, Michele was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. As a result, she needed a lumpectomy and seven weeks of radiation, while still caring for her family. Michele fought brave and hard. Everything seemed to be working, and life seemed to be ok until February 2017, when Michele was admitted to the hospital for a blood clot. While being treated, another lump was found on her breast, the cancer had returned. The tumor was significantly large in size, under her armpit and attached to a muscle. It has been determined to be in stage 3, which is considered aggressive. Surgery is not an option as the cancer is too severe. Next week Michele will be starting intense chemo treatments.
As many of you know, chemo treatments are traumatic. From these treatments, Michele will become very sick. It has not been determined how long Michele will be able to continue to work and provide for her now 87 year old mother and her two children. Her financial situation has been challenging since the loss of her husband and now with the possibility of losing her job, matters will only get worse.
To support this wonderful mother/daughter, we are setting up a Go-Fund Me account to help support Michele and her family through this troubling and heart wrenching time. We realize so many have troubles of their own, so we are not asking anyone to donate much. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated to help cover expected and un-expected costs of medical bills etc. If not monetary, having this letter shared on Facebook, getting the word out will go a long way. Or, provide a meal to the family; just one less thing for Michele to have to worry about.
