We Love You Brad

Brad is our big brother and four years ago he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer that metastasized to his liver. Throughout his treatments he has continued to chronicle every doctor's appointment, procedure, surgery, chemo, radiation, hospitalization, etc. over on his FB page, The Brad Report .

He's shared the ups and downs of his diagnosis and treatment and through it all, has maintained his sense of humor, tremendous musical talent, and generous and giving heart.

Additionally, Brad has continued to work full time through numerous chemo treatments, radiation and surgeries. His employer has been empathetic and extremely generous as he continues to fight cancer.

In July 2018, Brad suffered liver failure and had to undergo emergency surgery. Following his post-surgery recovery, Brad completed six rounds of a newer type of immune therapy chemo which produced good results. Unfortunately, this therapy and other options that are new are very expensive and not always fully covered by medical insurance.

This week, Brad will be starting with a new oncologist who will be as Brad says, his "quarterback" to coordinate his care through one hospital thus ensuring a continuity of care among various doctors and medical experts with the common goal to improve his condition and beat cancer. His new oncologist has a seat at this major hospital’s Tumor Board where Brad’s case has been presented numerous times. This team initially suggested the experimental radiation treatments that Brad went through a couple of years ago as well as the most recent course of immune chemotherapy. The new medical team is committed to work with Brad to find every possible cure option.

It is our hope to raise the funds needed to cover outstanding medical bills as well as the cost of future treatments so Brad can focus his energies on healing his mind, body, and spirit.

On behalf of Brad and his family, our siblings, Michael and Rebecca, all of our spouses, and all of our kids, thank you for supporting our family during this time. Your love and friendship mean the world to all of us.

We all feel that every day is a gift and we are so grateful we continue to have more days with our big brother, Brad.

With love and gratitude,
The Weinholtz, Zack, Carlish, and Samson families
