We LOVE our little Mona!

For those who are not familiar with our mother’s situation, let us explain what started on 9/20/2018. Our mother was having a hard time breathing, so we took her to the Emergency Room in Escanaba. They determined that she had suffered a heart attack and recommended sending her to Marquette for observation and further testing. Once we arrived in Marquette, the Doctors were not very optimistic. They thought she would need several bypasses and a heart valve replaced. Some Doctors didn’t think she would survive but, Dr. Bradford Blakeman was optimistic that he could perform the surgery with very minimal blood loss and that she would be fine. They scheduled her surgery for 9/28/2018. Then on 9/24/2018 she suffered a stroke. This caused the surgery to be postponed and took away her ability to swallow and talk temporarily. She was diagnosed with dysphasia. They started rehab to strengthen her before rescheduling her open-heart surgery. On 10/4/2018 she developed Congestive Heart Failure, and her oxygen levels started to drop to dangerous levels. Dr. Blakeman felt that if he didn’t perform the open-heart surgery asap, she wouldn’t be able to have it done. Based on the information they had from test results, he felt that she had a 50/50 chance. He said, “she is too young and too loved not have the surgery.” The surgery was then rescheduled for 10/10/2018. On the day of the surgery, family and friends gathered at the hospital to support each other and our mother. Many prayers were said that day, and they were answered! Jehovah God was with Mom and us! The surgery went quickly, and Dr. Blakeman was very pleased to tell us that she only needed one bypass and her valve was replaced. What a great relief! As result from her stroke, Mom couldn't cough on command, Dr. Blakeman strongly suggested a tracheostomy.  Which we decided to go ahead with his suggestion. Now she needs to be rehabilitated from the effects of the stroke after her surgery. This turned out to be more than Marquette could provide. We are now facing having to move our mother to the closest facility that will do the most good for her in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This too has now been postponed because of an infection that started in our mother’s gallbladder 10/28/18. She is too weak to have the gallbladder removed so instead they drained the gallbladder. The infection moved into her blood stream. A very dangerous situation, yet again. The move has been postponed until she recovers. Dr. Blakeman and the staff got on top of this problem immediately, and she is now responding well to the treatment. The purpose of this Go Fund Me is to assist our family with medical and travel expenses. This was a difficult decision on the family’s part to make this account. However, given the fact that this is going to be an ongoing situation, we have decided to create this for our Mom and Dad!  From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your generous support! Your love will never go unnoticed! Thank you for everything! #onedaycloser
