WE Congressional Hearing Tour
The Indianapolis team, comprised of upper elementary, middle school and high school students, are currently preparing for ICIVICS and WTP competition at the National Competition in Nashville and would like your help in raising funds to support this effort.
"We the People... The Citizen and the Constitution" is the most extensive educational program in the country to educate people, young & old, about the history and principles of the Constitution & Bill of Rights. Once our team is prepared students will then testify before a panel of judges acting as U.S. Congressional Representatives in a simulated congressional hearing setting. During this "Simulated Congressional Hearing" the team will be judged on their understanding of the Constitution, its application, reasoning, supportive evidence for positions taken, individual responsiveness, and participation.
The ICIVICS program component engages students/participants in meaningful civic learning. Winng Experiences provide civics facilitators well written, inventive, and free resources that enhance their practice and inspire their audiences. Our mission is to ensure every student/participant receives a high quality civic education, and becomes engaged in - and beyond -- the classroom. This program is especially suited for lower to upper elementary students (3rd=5th grade) and work sessions are conducted once or twice per week. Computers are necessary and are expected to be provided by the schools involved. Many of our urban schools cannot provide them.
Your contributions will help fund the team's travel and lodging for five day competition, and cultural tours that are always included as part of the competition experiences.
Any help you give us will be greatly appreciated!
