Hudson's Helpers

Hudson has had a rough year. In spring he was taken to a urologist at his home in Illinois for swollen testicles, where the Doctor diagnosed him with a hematoma. They performed surgery in July, to stop the bleeding. By the end of August, the swelling had still not subsided (softball sized), and the urologist, ER, and surgeon all said this was a normal after surgery swelling that would “eventually” go down. Hudson and his mom moved to Memphis in September. Once settled, he went to a new GP at Memphis Children’s clinic, who immediately recognized nothing was normal about his swelling. He was immediately transferred to the ER at Methodist east, administered by Lebonheur east. After a few ultrasounds, they sent him down to the main Lebonheur campus in Memphis. They performed a few scans, and before the end of that night received the news no child should receive- he had a Tumor in his scrotum, stomach, and lungs. Two days later he had a successful surgery they removed the tumor from his scrotum. He was accepted for treatment at St Jude and arrived 5 days after his surgery, where he started chemo 24 hours after arrival. The professionals in Memphis quickly recognized, diagnosed and started treatment on a cancer that was duplicating in size every few days. Hudson has stage 4 RMS Rhabdomyosarcoma, with a very large tumor in is abdomen/pelvis area. He is on the RMS13 for high risk patients at St Jude, with the hope to rid his body of this awful disease. We are starting a Go Fund me page in the hopes we can absorb some of the medical bills that are piling up, while keeping his family focused on caring for him, and allowing him the opportunity of recovering, being a little boy, and starting school in a year. He has a long road ahead of him, with continued chemo, radiation, and surgery. St Jude is an amazing campus that covers any costs associated with treating his RMS, and we are lucky to have landed in Memphis in time to receive a professional, accurate and timely diagnosis.
