West Columbia Gorge Humane Society Medical Fund
As an independent, 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization, West Columbia Gorge Humane Society relies on donations from animal lovers like you to continue our lifesaving mission.
Many of the animals that arrive at our shelter need medical treatment that goes above and beyond the routine care we provide, such as vaccinations and spay/neuter, in preparation for adoption. Therefore, one of our biggest expenses is medical procedures and treatments. We will not euthanize an animal for a treatable illness or condition. Instead, we treat the animal for as long as it takes to make it well again and then place it up for adoption. Some of the more common medical procedures we must do are: dental cleaning/extractions, mass removal and deep ear cleaning. Some animals required additional life-saving emergency surgery and treatments.
The money raised through this campaign will help defray these medical costs and decrease strain on our budget.
CURRENT NEED:
We are currently dealing with an outbreak of ringworm in the Cat Shelter. As a result, we have closed the shelter to the public to contain and treat the affected cats. Each cat will undergo treatment at the direction of our veterinarian, and at this time we are unsure of when we’ll receive medical clearance and be able to reopen. Donations coming in will first go to the treatment and testing of our cats, to get them healthy and adoptable again. Once the outbreak is contained, any additional donations will go into our medical fund to help other pets in need.
Examples of other WCGHS Medical Expenses and how your donation helps:
· $25: Intake exam, vaccines and parasite control for a new pet.
· $50: Microchips for 10 pets.
· $100: Spay and neuter for 2-3 pets.
· $250: Dental procedure for a pet.
· $500: Medical care for up to 5 nursing cats and their kittens.
· $1000: Medical care for special needs pets or emergency services.
