Young fathers fight against MS

Donation protected
Gabe is a young (27) father of three. When his wife Ruiha, was 36 weeks pregnant with their third child, Gabe was rushed to hospital for what was suspected to be a stroke. After a long day at work, Gabe was driving home and started to lose his vision. He returned home and went to sleep, thinking he was just over-tired. Gabe soon woke up and went to stand, but blacked out. Ruiha came to check on Gabe and noticed the right side of his face was drooping. This caused a visit to Emergency. Unfortunately at this time Gabe was misdiagnosed and being a ‘bigger’ build was advised that his size was affecting his health. Gabe was sent home with a range of medication to minimise the pain he was in. Gabe was sent for an MRI, organised by his GP as he was concerned about the symptoms. The next day Ruiha gave birth to a gorgeous little boy. Gabe struggled to hold his baby and for that matter, could barely even see him due to his vision. Results for the MRI came back indicating that Gabe had several lesions and inflammation on his brain. Lesions have also been found on his spinal cord and impacting his central nervous system. Gabe has been stripped of his independence and is unable to work. As the sole income earner this has greatly impacted his family. A little help will go a long way for this family, and for a man who stops at nothing to help others. It is still a long journey from here. The latest follow up appointment indicated the high possibility that Gabe will soon lose strength in his legs. His speech and his vision are also impaired. Gabe has been referred to a neurological institute and will also commence physiotherapy and Occupational therapy.
It is unknown was causes MS and there is currently no cure. There are a number of symptoms (too many to note) that are debilitating and impacting on Gabe’s quality of life. A treatment plan is being established, which will hopefully improve his quality of life and support him in gaining back some of his independence.
This is just a short snippet of an issue which is having such a large impact on a beautiful young family. Gabe is not an Australian citizen, so unfortunately, is not eligible for any benefits.
He is a big man with a big heart. Gabe has dedicated so much of his life to helping others, not only in his line of work, but in his personal life too.  He and Ruiha have always gone out of their way to help others  and this is a real opportunity for others to help them in their time of need! Gabe has spent many years working with vulnerable young children - dedicating his time to improve their quality of life.
He now endures his own vulnerability during this challenging time, so please do whatever you can to support this family - no amount is too small. Gabe has not been able to work since July and any money raised will go towards medical expenses, living costs, a family car and help towards aids- walking frames, chairs and possibly a bed etc (as he is unable to sleep comfortably and that causes more pain).

There is currently a raffle with cash prizes if anyone is interested in purchasing tickets. Link provided. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1681096211911061&id=100000320964022
