University Tuition Funding

Hi everyone!

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to visit my campaign and read through this. I really appreciate it!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Clayon, an international student from Jamaica going into my final year in the Rotman Commerce program at the University of Toronto. I currently pursue a degree in Accounting with the hopes of obtaining my CPA designation and ultimately becoming a Forensic Accountant.

I've spent the last 3 years in Canada, and I have loved every second of it (well most of it - the weather here is truly an experience).  The people I've met, the places I've explored, the different cuisines I've tried have deepened my love for the country and has motivated me to want to obtain permanent residency in order to settle down here on order to support myself and my family back home.

However, I am in a bit of a financial dilemma currently. Due to some outstanding fees from last year, I am unable to register for courses for the upcoming academic year.  If I don't register by the end of August, I will have to go back to Jamaica which significantly reduces my chances of qualifying for the 3 year work permit one can obtain after graduation.

My goal for this campaign is thus to seek assistance from you in any way that you possibly can. Growing up, I have held firm to this Jamaican Proverb my grandma used to tell me, "Every mikkle mek a mukkle" which simply means small amounts add up to big things. Just this past year, I was fortunate enough to serve as a Program Don at University College where the capstone of this role was my establishment of the International Student Socials in residence. Each social brought not just the possibility of learning something new about another culture but also the ability to engage in dialogue about implicit issues such as the difficulty of language barriers, racism and international student support. The role also covered the cost of living the past year and will cover the cost of living next year as well.

With the help of some scholarships, working part time throughout the school year and full-time during the summer months, I was able to save some money in order to help my parents pay off a portion of this debt. I now look to pay the remainder of these fees before the school year starts in September. I really appreciate it and I want to thank you sincerely for your generosity and support. It truly means alot.
