Alex's Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia

Donation protected
My name is Kyle, please bear with me as I have a lot to say. I am currently living in Alaska for the military away from my family in Ohio. I received a call in the not so distant past that was lightyears from anything I expected.

My niece Alex was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. Total time from her going to the emergency room with a sore throat and partial swelling to her first chemo treatment will be less then 6 days.

For as long as I can remember Alex has been more of a little sister then a niece. She always has a smile and chipper attitude, adding life and love to any room as soon as she walks in. She has been a big part of my life; from flying to my graduation from basic years ago, to writing letters and keeping me updated on everything back home, she has always been there with her positive attitude and contagious smile.

My intentions are to have my bone marrow typed to see if I am a match as soon as the doctors say that a marrow transplant is an option. Until then as well as throughout this process I am asking for your help. Not sure how well this will work seeing as I don't use a lot of social media... at all, ( had to link her facebook even) but I wanted to do as much as I could while being stuck 4000+ miles away.

This is not something easy for me, or my family. Everyone in our entire family have dedicated ourselves to the service of others. Her father, her mother, firefighters/ EMTs. Her little brother is training to become a firefighter. My mother, police. My sister, nurse. My father, firefighter/ EMT, Hazmat chief, and police officer. Her boyfriend, a corrections officer and fireighter. Myself, firefighter/ EMT and USAF airman. The list goes on and on but you get the idea.

While we are very proud, I think I at least, am not to proud to ask for help from the kindness of others. If you have read this this far then thank you for taking time out of your day to share in our story. I ask you to find it in your heart to provide a donation to help ease the intensive financial impact this will undoubtedly have on our family. Any little bit will help, however, if you find yourself unable I only ask for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all again.
Gratefully,
Kyle
