Odyssey of The Mind World Finals

We are the West Buncombe Elementary School Odysessy of the Mind team located in Asheville North Carolina. We finished in first place in our Regional event and our State event. This qualified us for the Odyssey of the Mind® 2016 World Finals located at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa on May 25 - May 28. Over 800 teams from around the world will compete in the 37th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. The competition emphasizes creativity and teamwork and has grown into the largest international creative problem-solving competition worldwide. Millions of kids have been working hard all year perfecting their solutions to OotM problems and competing within their regions and states.
Only a few have advanced to World Finals — these teams represent the best of the best creative minds. As you can image this is a huge honor for these very talented young students but to pull this off it will take a huge effort. In total we are trying to raise $10,000 dollars. We will be raising $5000 through various fundraising activities at our school and within our community but we need your help. Our team has 7 members, 3 coaches and a group of very dedicated parents. We plan on driving over 1000 miles from North Carolina to Iowa. This will be a 7 day/6 night trip. The funds we are trying to raise will pay for lodging, food and other travel expense along with our required fees. We would like to have this money by May 1st in order to figure out how close we are to our goal. This is a once in a lifetime experience for these students. They have worked very hard to make it to the finals. We do not want money to be the reason that they would miss this opportunity. This would mean the world to these students and who knows maybe even bring home a World Championship. There is no words to explain how thankful these students will be for your support but to each person that gives please know we are very grateful.
