Wayne's Cup is a fully operational café which focuses on the development of adults with special needs. We provide supportive training to develop their skills in all aspects of the running of a café whilst also delivering a fun working environment which promotes social interaction.

We hope by running this campaign we are able to fund a spot in the program and buy other supplies for the cafe.

We will be sharing stories and pictures of the positive work that Wayne's Cup contributes to the community.

Local business owner, Sivananthan Kunasingam, is a frequent visitor to “Wayne’s cup”. We managed to get a few minutes of his time to collect his thoughts on “Wayne’s cup”!

Q - "Tell me about the business you operate in the plaza".
S - " I run a small family print and copy shop, with an emphasis on serving the local community. Being an agent for Fed Ex, brings a lot of trade into our shop. We are also constantly busy printing rush orders for our clients. I often recommend they go next door to "Wayne's cup" for a coffee, while waiting for their printing to finish. Glorious Printers prides itself on delivering quality print services at very comparative prices".

Q – "What does Wayne’s cup bring to the local business community?"
S – "Wayne’s cup" is unique! On the face of it, it’s just another plaza coffee shop however, on closer inspection it’s far more! To have these students working and being part of our business community, changes the feel of the plaza for the better. As for the plaza, having "Wayne’s cup" has allowed us to grow."

Q – "What are the best aspects of "Wayne’s cup" from your point of view?"
S – "The fresh brewed coffee and the team that make it! As they say, " It's not about the coffee but the hands that make it"!

At the core of "Wayne’s cup" we are a day program that loves to teach lifelong skills to our students and one of those skills is how we deal with handling food orders. One day, we were approached with an order of forty eight cupcakes for an office retirement party. The morning of the party, the team woke up bright and early, ready to begin the baking process. Roles were assigned and each individual given a specific task. For example Wayne was to assemble the ingredients and Thomas was to gather all the necessary equipment. With aprons, gloves and hair nets on we all started to work. The team measured the ingredients according to the "Wayne’s Cup" recipe, mixing and blending as we proceeded. Michael arranged the cupcake holders, and the students carefully filled each one of the forty eight holders with the cupcake mixture. After baking when they had cooled, we set about decorating each cupcake and got them ready for delivery.

We managed to deliver forty eight, delicious freshly made and decorated cupcakes in-time for the party! What an accomplishment for our students!

Needless to say, "Wayne’s cup" is always here to serve some delicious and fun cupcakes!

In our short existence in the community in Markham, we have tried our best to make ourselves known to the community. Recently, we were contacted by the Marleigh Retirement Home of Markham and were asked if we were able to have ten visitors for a light lunch at "Wayne’s cup". Interacting with the local community gave our students the chance to hear some stories: one in particular that shocked our students, was about how some of the residents used to swim in the local Toogood Park Pond, which today is deemed unfit for swimming! Along with storytelling and learning about the communities past, our students took orders and prepared the meals for the Marleigh residents. With such a successful event, the residents at Marleigh Retirement Home are already planning their next visit, eager to once again be a part of the social and refreshing environment "Wayne's cup" has to offer!
