A Documentary on Art and Addiction

We all know addiction. Some of us from a distance, some very closely. There is love and there is loss in the world of addiction, the highest highs and the lowest lows. It is impossible to change people, but it is not impossible to change the way we act.
Too many times have I heard judgement in the place of understanding on the subject of addiction. Too many times have overdoses become cautionary tales instead of calls to action. Too many times has shame shrouded empathy. I believe it is time to take action.
With a BFA in filmmaking, I feel confident in my ability to produce a feature length documentary that will tell stories of art, music, addiction, transformation, loss, healing, devastation, and hope; a film that will truly change the way people see the world of addiction.
It will examine the personal nature of addiction by replacing surface level interviews with intimate conversation. We will be invited into the lives of select individuals, who will allow us to take a very real look at the day to day realities of the creative mind in recovery. We will travel with them, holding their hand through the painful recollections, crying with them over time lost, smiling with them in hope for the future.
While shooting this documentary, we will follow very different journeys that will show the many unique and beautiful faces of people who suffer from the isolation of addiction. Together these artists will color stories of addiction that have been black and white to the rest of the world for much too long.
This money will cover travelling, equipment and production costs to reach the subjects of this documentary across Small Town, U.S.A. and beyond.
