Focus, discipline, confidence, strength, respect . . . these are just some of the positive qualities that children develop through the martial arts.  Please help us send deserving karate students from Washington, DC to Japan this summer, August 2019!

Every dollar counts. Plane tickets from D.C. to Okinawa are over $2000 per person, and training fees are $300 per person!  Your gift goes towards travel scholarships to help pay for training fees and activities to ensure all eligible students (and chaperones) can make the trip. All donations are tax deductible.

Accompanied by their teacher, Sensei Patrick Burton, these accomplished students, ages 10-16, have spent years in training to earn upper-level belts, and they now have an opportunity to train with Masters in Japan. They succeed personally and academically, and assist younger students while progressing along their own martial arts path.

Warrior Origins partners with Warriors Karate  in Washington, D.C. to identify students from the District eligible to participate in activities that will deepen their appreciation of, and skill in, martial arts. Because karate is more than a sport - it's a way of life - Warrior Origins also encourages global citizenship by organizing opportunities for international travel to train with masters in the birthplaces of modern martial arts.

In 2016 and 2017, students trained at the International Karate Study Centre in Okinawa. In 2018, students trained at Samurai Juku in Kyoto.

Sensei Patrick has led the Young Warriors Program since 2010. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Sensei Patrick is a veteran Army Ranger and sixth degree black belt with almost 30 years of martial arts experience.

Thanks so much for your support!
