My Story
My name is Anne! You might not know me but I’d like to introduce myself.
Born and raised in London Ontario, I am an individual striving to encourage people to care for people. Although I have not worked in the mental health or medical field, I have a deep understanding of the life experiences that have shaped me over the past 26 years and how they can relate to the other billion humans on this planet.
Ever since I was a kid I told my parents that I would walk to my cottage, approximately 221 KM, located between Sauble Beach and Tobermory Ontario. While I have always suffered from depression, 2017 brought on a new wave of emotions. Life had me feeling what I can best describe as “just plain weird.” In 10 years I’ve never felt so far out of my comfort zone and feeling alone during it all. While I can acknowledge and repeatedly thank the fantastic support system that I have, at the end of the day I felt as though it was me, myself and I. I am still struggling with mental health and I understand that I will be for my whole life but finding different outlets have been my savior! Just before the holidays I decided 2018 was the year I’d walk to my cottage.
Members of the London community are invited to join me on the morning of June 25th for a symbolic 1 KM walk around beautiful Victoria Park. This will begin at 8AM on the North West corner of the park at Richmond and Central Ave. We will be travelling clockwise around the parks perimeter. Once this 1st KM is complete, I will be taken to the city limits to continue the journey independently. I hope to see all of you out there!
