Sheltering underprivileged students

My name is Alemnew Sheferaw Asrese. I am originally from a rural village in Ethiopia, and currently studying at Aalto University, Finland. I am asking your support for my effort to pay back for my community.
This fundraising is intended to help underprivileged students in a High School located at a remote location of a rural region called Wabirr in Bibugn Wereda, East Gojjam, northern Ethiopia.
The students attending at Wabirr High School need to travel daily for a minimum of two hours on foot in order to attend their education. Because of this, they have to wake up early and start their journey before 5:30 AM to arrive at school for the class that starts at 8:00 AM.
For this academic year, 2016/17, there are 1162 students registered in the school. 56% of them are girls.

The students can not afford to rent a house or a room near by the school. This is because the majority of students come from various rural areas, where their families lead a hand to mouth life. The only best option they have to attend their school is by living with their family in the rural areas and traveling everyday for hours to get to the school. Most students barely afford to buy basic materials for education like pens, exercise books, etc.

As a result, only few students can become successful in their education and many students are forced to quit school.
I am one of the very few students that came through such a difficult situation in the area, --- and became now a doctoral candidate at Aalto university, Finland.
Along with my friends, we are trying to change the situation at least for some of the students in the area by building a shared shelter near by school.
This shelter which is about to be built will be a home for 60 students(30 boys and 30 girls) while they are attending their high school education. This way we would like to provide the students a good opportunity to focus only on their education and we are certain that this can make a big difference in their life!
The total cost of the project is estimated to 28,000 EURO. We have collected 15% of the total cost for the initial start of the project from our personal savings.We are trying our best to make the project cost effective through various means: voluntary Engineers are collaborating with us in different ways including designing and supervision of the building.
Therefore, we are kindly asking for your help to achieve our goal in this project. All donations, small or large, will help us to make this project a reality. There is no contribution too small. Every cent will make a change in the student’s life!!
The funds will go towards:-
- Buying building materials;
- Labour cost for the construction;
- Furnishing the rooms;
- Purchasing basic furnitures like bed, mattress, blanket, table, chair and shelf.
If there will be enough fund, we will support the students like providing them education materials such as book, school uniforms, etc.
Any amount of money you donate would definitely help to change the student's life for good. We are so thankful for all your kind contributions!
For donations more than 100 EURO, I will send a post card or photo graph of the students signed by the first entrants to the dorimitory.
