Hunter's Heart

Hello my name is Nicole and a good friend of mine Nikki and her husband Scott are expecting their first child at the end of this year. At their 18 week ultrasound they found out that their son Hunter has a heart defect. A couple of weeks later they went for a second scan of little Hunter's heart. The scan showed no signs of improvement. The following week Nikki and Scott met with a pediatric cardiologist. They did another scan and from what could be seen, he is missing the pulmonary artery. The aorta is doing the job of both, creating a hold between chambers in his heart and a tetralogy of flow. Once Hunter is born he will undergo his first surgery. The doctors are unsure how many surgeries he will need in the beginning. At most he will require three. When he is finally released from the children's hospital he will come home with pulsox machines and be on several meds. He will be followed by a cardiologist all his life. Unfortunetly, insurance will not cover all costs of the visits or surgeries. The high risk OB and all of Hunter's doctors are in Boston which is an hour drive from Nikki and Scott's home. The cost can be overwhelming. Any amount would be helpful and very appreciated. Nikki and Scott thank everyone in advance for helping out with Little Hunter's heart.

Scott and Nicky Peets welcomed Hunter Peets into the world on Oct 1st. Hunter was diagnosed at week 18 of fetal with TOF - PA (Tetralogy of Fallot - pulmonary atresia) with MAPCAS. He also has a VSD. Hunter, in his first month of life has under gone a cardiac catheter at week one and his first open heart surgery on Oct 30th. These are just the beginnings of all the procedures he will endure throughout the next couple years and his life. Due to ins issues and basically living in Boston for long periods, bills are piling up quickly. We are trying to raise money to help with this burden. The Peets family needs our help. Since recognizing the need for help they plan to help other CHD families in the future once they are in a better place. You can follow the Peets families story by following their Hunter's Heart FaceBook page. https://www.facebook.com/HunterPeets/ Thank you for considering a donation to a thankful family.

My daughter has a very similar story and if it's any consolation she is thriving beyond belief, especially her cardiologist. She is 9 months old and has spent nearly 2 months in hospital. That being said, Boston Childrens Hospital has been amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better team to assist us. She has had two surgeries thus far. Prays to you both through this emotional and painful time but it will all be forgotten when you hold your little baby. Good luck and if you need anything, please find me on Facebook. There are great support groups and resources out there to help too!

My nephew is a strapping 17 year old high school student, he was operated on when he was only two months old. Yes, they're followed, but he's done well with it. Good luck, but I think you're in good hands.
