Zephan's Healthy Bone Fund
We love our friend Beth, and we love her family. We know YOU do too! We are cheering for Zephan and praying for him.
Zephan has a fragile bone condition that is causing him to repeatedly break his bones. He is 8 years old and can no longer run with his friends. Beth and her family have no answers, and no answers means a LOT of hard days.
Zephan may have a rare form or OI, a progressive neuromuscular condition, or something else. There have already been considerable out-of-pocket expenses for the Hunter family. In order to move forward and help Zephan, expensive testing needs to be continued, and also a genetic panel needs to be done.
We immediately imagined the strain that comes as each and every medical bill adds up.
We immediately imagined what it would be like to need further help for our precious child, and have a dumb thing like money be the thing to stand in the way.
Well, it will NOT stand in the way because many hands make light work.
Together, we will get Zephan the help that he needs.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and/or donated towards our medical bills. I spent most of the day yesterday crying because of your generosity. You have blessed us tremendously through your gifts and I feel unraveled by your grace. Thank you.
Our insurance company will not pay for Zephan's needed bisphosphonate injections. We have appealed this decision but the outlook is not good. This is really the only reliable treatment out there for kids with severe osteoporosis so your continued prayers are appreciated!
UPDATE: We received some good news that I wanted to share with all who have been praying for us! Zeph is now enrolled in a research study at Nationwide Children's Hospital that will allow us to receive the genetic testing we need and hopefully shed some light on Zephan's condition. Since research test results cannot be used to medically treat a condition, we will still need to pursue genetic testing on our own at a later date. However, the research results will be very comprehensive and will (likely) hone in on the specific test/s needed--cutting down on our overall cost of testing. Bottom line, this is a HUGE answer to prayer and we are thrilled at the possibility of having some answers in the next month or two! Even if the answers just lead us to more unknowns, we will be grateful to have more answers! Your continued prayers and support are so appreciated. Our medical bills have been exhausting and your investment in Zeph's health overwhelms me with gratitude. Thank you friends! I pray that you are blessed tenfold for your generosity.
