Emergency Medical Treatment

Help a veteran, friend, father and husband - Steve Dalton (Iron Man) get life saving Medical treatment.

 Steve Dalton’s life changed on July 12, 1997 a father of 3 young children. Steve a healthy 29 year old, had just retired from the Canadian Military PPCLI when he was hit by a tractor trailer on a 2 lane Hwy in Southern Alberta on his way home from work. He spent 3 weeks in ICU at the Foothills Hospital and then 2 more months in hospital. He was lucky to be alive or was he?? Steve and his family had no relatives in Medicine Hat and relied on friends for assistance, great friends they formed in the Hat. 2 years ago Cheryl had a chance to take a job that allowed them to be closer to Calgary for Steve’s doctors. They made the move and have great friends in Olds.

Steve has had 157 surgeries due to reconstructions, skin graphing and multiple infections which includes 7 hip surgeries on his left hip.  Steve has 9 lives as we say, his family has come close to losing him 4 times do to blood clots, infections and complications post-surgery.

He has had multiple infections but 4 years ago his pelvis was deteriorating and was in more pain than ever. He had restructuring of his pelvis done and hip replacement #6. He caught an Antibiotic Resistant Organisms (ARO) infection also known as the Super Bug while he was in the hospital in his bladder. Throughout the years Steve had an infection in hip #3 and had his hip removed and was on IV antibiotics for 6 month. He then had a hip put back in.

The last 4 years the Super Bug (ARO) has taken over his body and is systemic. He has been on large doses of oral and potent IV antibiotics for months at a time. The high doses of antibiotics in conjunction with his systemic infection has caused his teeth to fall out and the remaining were pulled recently, he requires dentures now. He has lost about 150lbs in the last 4 years due to the treatments he has had to endure.

The doctors in Canada state that he requires an alternative treatment only available in the US to rid his body of infection. Steve has had a consult and needs to be in the USA asap for treatment at the Carson Specialty/Medical center. The treatment Steve requires are not available in Canada.

The family needs help to get Steve the treatment he requires to save his life.
