Kathy's Fight!!!

Donation protected
Kathy Dorbat (age 35) is the wonderful wife of Eric and the amazing mother to two toddler boys (ages 3 & 15 months).  She is the stepmother and role model to her stepson (18) and her beautiful stepdaughter (11). She works full time and she is a wife, mother, stepmother, daughter, sister and friend.

On February 8th, Kathy went for a routine physical with her primary doctor. During her examination, the doctor found a mysterious “lump” under her left breast. The next day she was sent for an emergency mammogram and ultrasound. After confirming the “lump” was there, she had to go for a biopsy the following Tuesday . The next three days became torture for her and her family. The waiting and the anticipation finally came to an end when she received the phone call on February 17th at 4pm. Kathy has stage II breast cancer. The mass is 3.3mm (the size of a large grape). As of right now, she is undergoing a large amount of testing.  She has taken the BRCA Gene test, a blood test that uses DNA analysis to identify harmful changes (mutations), which can lead to future cancer. Since her cancer is estrogen based, it may attack her “lady parts”. Therefore, if the test comes back positive for the BRCA gene, she will need a full mastectomy (the removal of both breasts) as well as a full hysterectomy to hopefully prevent future cancer from appearing. If the BRCA gene is negative, she will have a Lumpectomy, which is the removal of the mass only. It will take two weeks for the results of the test to come back, that is when she will determine her next steps, that is when her fight will truly begin. Either way, she will need chemotherapy and radiation because her cancer has advanced to stage II. Kathy will lose her hair. She will be tired. She will be in pain…. BUT she WILL survive and she is READY FOR THIS FIGHT!

Kathy is handling this all-pretty well. Anyone who knows her knows how strong she is and how caring she is to others. Kathy’s main concern in this whole ordeal is her two sons and her stepchildren. Regardless of her surgery she will no longer be able to breast feed her baby or rock her babies to sleep… until she heals. (If she has the mastectomy/hysterectomy, it will be months before she is able to lift them).

The purpose of this page is not for pity. It is not for a handout. It is solely to help her with her medical bills, her loss of work, and her financial struggles over the next months to come. Kathy WILL survive this and she WILL fight! And we WILL stand her behind her every step of the way. No donation is too large or too small. And for those of you who would like to donate but can’t at the moment we ask that you believe in the power of prayer like Kathy does, and keep praying for her and her family and keep the positive vibes coming!

My personal email is [email redacted]. I will also be setting up a system for meals for Kathy so she can strictly focus on herself and her family. Any dinners will be gladly accepted and dropped off at her home so she will not have to worry about feeding her family while she is undergoing treatment. Thank you all in advance for your donations. Remember, every dollar helps and every prayer counts! Don’t fight FOR Kathy.. Fight WITH Kathy!
