MOCHA'S FIGHT FOR HER LIFE

$1,410 of $3,500 goal

SWEET MOCHA is a beautiful loving rescue pup we saved from SC.  Last week she was a sweet, happy bubbling girl who was filled with puppy kisses for everyone she met.  TODAY SHE IS STRUGGLING TO LIVE.

We placed MOCHA with an absolutely wonderful foster family with three children aged 11, 6 and 4 who instantly fell in love with her.  Several days ago MOCHA starting feeling lethargic and under the weather.  She stopped eating.  She no longer wanted to cuddle and just wasn't herself.  I received the call from her foster dad who immediately rushed her to an Emergency Clinic.  MOCHA has been there until this morning when she was taken to yet Emergency Vet (with a specialist in immunology) in Portsmouth NH.

MOCHA'S body is struggling to produce red blood cells. Upon admission to the ER her red blood count was 9.5.  Normal is 50.  Under 10 is considered fatal...yet she has been fighting so everyone decided to fight with her and give her a chance to have a happy life. Yesterday her red blood count was 16.5 but dropped again to 15 this morning when she was taken to the ER specialist.  All tests so far have been negative and whatever is affecting this girl cannot be identified.   Right now MOCHA is receiving a blood transfusion and a bone marrow test has been done.  Fluid was just removed from her spleen.

The bill from the 1st ER Vet was over $4,000 and now we are looking at additional bills from the ER specialist hoping that we can save her life.  How can you stop trying when she is already in this family's heart and there are children who are praying for her to come home.  How do you say this one little life has needs that surpasses our resources?  We cannot.

And so we find ourselves reaching out to you to humbly ask your help.  We realize we are asking a lot.   We also realize we most likely wont be able to raise what we are asking for....but we will be grateful whatever we can raise to help save MOCHA.  If love could save this girl she would be heading home to her family now.

Any contribution is sincerely appreciated.  Pet Tails Rescue is a 501c3 and donations are tax-deductible.

On September 12th the results were received on MOCHA'S (now LUNA) bone marrow tests. LUNA was diagnosed with Stage 5 Granular Cell Lymphoma.

Hearts are absolutely devastated. How does a 12 week old beautiful puppy get a diagnosis of this magnitude? How does a family who has fallen in love with this girl make a decision to either let her go or to give her time so she can experience love and know that she had a family who simply adored her?

LUNA is not in pain. The Robb family took LUNA home on September 10th. LUNA has basked in the sunshine, been hugged and kissed a million time and has even been sung to by angelic voices.

On September 12th Pet Tails Rescue offered the Robb family LUNA'S sister MILA to help give strength to LUNA and strength to this family. The Robb family welcome MILA with open arms. LUNA and her sister MILA sleep together. When LUNA has the strength she will play with her sister. Just the other day LUNA was curious about the neighborhood and decided to explore the wonders of the flowers and nature. What an absolute blessing.

The Robb family has decided to do what is within their means to give this girl a life for whatever time she may have here on this earth. Hospital bills have exceeded $10,000. They are now treating LUNA holistically and have an appointment with an oncologist tomorrow just to review her diagnosis and see if any treatment options that could be considered. They will not let this girl suffer and they will not let her be alone another day in her life. They are realistic what their path may be yet they remain hopeful...because hope is all that LUNA and this family can hold onto right now. And as long as LUNA continues to fight and show a sparkle in her eye they will be right there alongside her fighting too. We have witnessed miracles before and believe in the power of love.

Even if all that LUNA has is this time...yesterday, today and hopefully quite a few tomorrows...each and every day will be filled with love. a family that wanted nothing more than for LUNA to know love and to know that she belonged to a family. And she is blessed.

Please continue to pray for LUNA and to offer strength to the Robb family.

Sunday Morning 11:15 Update: MOCHA was given a blood transfusion yesterday. She had a reatction to the transfusion but docs were able to complete it. Her red blood cell count jumped to 27 after the transfusion and MOCHA was able to eat around midnight. This morning her red blood cell dropped to 17. Her little body just keeps destroying her red blood cells.

We are praying that little MOCHA can hold on until tomorrow when results of the bone marrow test will come in. Please continue to pray for this sweet girl.
