Deb Haka Benefit

Donation protected
This is Ryan, one of 5 of Debs children...if you know my mom well you will know that she is going to not be very happy with me for asking for help. She has always been a very independant person and has been battling Brain Cancer for 3 years, she has always insisted that she can do it on her own and doesn't need the help or attention from anyone. Well, although her spirits are high, she has faced some tough things the past year. A little history...12 years ago she was diagnosed and beat Breast Cancer but 3 years ago she was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, she has since had two surgeries to remove the tumors and chemo...she is stil going pretty strong to this day but does need some assistance. Like I said before, she has always been the one that just takes care of things and everyone around her. She held multiple jobs when I was younger just to make sure that we had everything we needed as she was a single parent of 4, she later on met Greg Haka and they married and added one more child to the family, together they started their own little hobby farm north of Ft. Pierre where they raise goats, cows, dogs, horses, chickens, and about any type of critter you can imagine! A few years ago we lost Greg to a heart attack and since then she has been doing it all on her own. She has always had a knack for getting by and making things work, after Gregs passing the farm became her passion, as now she is almost a local celeb at the farmers market with her goat milk soap and farm fresh eggs! The reason I am reaching out for her is because a few months back she was "let go" from her job of 25 years...I am really just being nice about that term, basically what it came down to was that her employer decided she was missing too much work because of her needed cancer treatments and fired her. She has managed to get by the past few months because of some great people in town, but the last couple weeks we have been met with some challenges. As of right now she is going to be out of work for a little while and it might be a while before she can get back to her normal routine. We currently are in the Hospital again as they have found some swelling around the area that her tumor was removed from. She is otherwise in good health, but the swelling is making it very hard for her to communicate. We are praying this is temporary and she will be back to normal soon, but right now she really does need some assistance until then. As I have said, she has spent her life making sure everyone else is taken care of, and it is about time someone helps her out! It is very hard to compile the whole story at once, but for any of you that know her, you know how stubborn and independant she is and I have a feeling I am going to be in very much trouble for doing this...haha. But, what she does know is that she raised an equally stubborn child, and she should fully expect for me to not listen to her and do what I know is right! So, please, if you can help her out to get over this hump, she could use as much help as possible right now. She is going to have a plethera of medical bills, travel expenses, and just everyday living costs, plus now since losing her job at Nill & Associates, she is paying for very expense healthcare thanks to the "not so affordable" health care system! She has also been providing care for my Grandpa and he is living with her also, he is a disabled veteran and has many medical complications himself, but she has managed to keep him going and healthy even through all her hurdles and fight with cancer. She is tough and a survivor and I know this, but now more than any other time before she needs the help of others and deserves it. So anyways, please help if you can, and if you cant help with a monetary donation, I am sure we could find some chores for you at her place until she gets back on her feet! Thank you in advance!
