Help Dessin Animal Shelters Captain

Hi my name is Brooke and I am a board member for the Dessin Animal Shelter and work at the Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic.  Dessin Animal Shelter is a private, nonprofit organization that assists in the placement of many animals each year into loving homes.  Many animals come to the shelter injured or abused looking for help. The Dessin Animal Shelter employees have difficult jobs and never know what will be handed to them on any given day. They are committed to offering comfort to all the animals during their stay at Dessin. Captain is just one of  many animals that showed up at Dessin and made an impact on them all! Please help us make it possible to give Captain a second chance on life! 



On Wednesday April 13, 2016 an individual found a young cat grievously injured at Apple Grove in Honesdale, PA. He was brought to the Dessin Animal Shelter where they fell in love and took him to get veterinary care immediately. He was taken to the Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic and was examined by Dr. Platko. Radiographs were  done discovering he had shattered his left rear leg.  With these injuries, we can only assume he was hit by a car. Despite his injuries, he was lively and alert, purring and kneading his paws. He received the name Captain. Captain is the sweetest, friendliest little cat you could hope to meet and everyone has fallen in love with him the moment they saw him. He is young and deserves a second chance at living! The cost of the procedures performed on Captain are sure to be expensive.  Captain will need to have an extensive surgical procedure done to repair and possibly amputate the leg. He will need to be hospitalized 5-7 days. He is currently hospitalized at the Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic receiving pain medication and lots of love!





So many people give up on their pets too easily when problems like these happen, but how often do our pets give up on us when we are ill or injured? They don't.  In fact, I think that if we are unwell, our pets give us MORE love and affection!  We understand that money is tight for everyone, and we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for any and all donations.
