Shannon Kane's MS Battle~

Donation protected
Many of you know Shannon Kane from the CT department and X-Ray department at Little Falls Hospital.  Her compassion for her patients and her dedication to her work, is the same that she gives to her own family, her friends, & even to our Relay for Life  team~ Team Family Ties!  That's why I'm sharing this~
On the evening of Friday, April 22, 2015, Shannon Kane's life, as she knew it, forever changed.  Shannon was rushed to Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital when she developed a severe, debilitating headache, sudden loss of use of her legs, and the inability to speak.  Obviously, the first thought was a stroke, but after many tests, scans, & doctors evaluating her, it was finally concluded that she had Multiple Sclerosis.  After a week as an Inpatient, she was transferred to St. Luke's Inpatient Rehabilitation Center where she undergoes a grueling 3-3 1/2 hours/day of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.  Along with this, Shannon is on medications to treat and get her MS under control.
Those who know Shannon best, know that her family is her life~ She & her husband Kevin have 3 boys~ Brandon, Zack, & Hunter.   Brandon graduated in 2013, Zack graduates this month from Little Falls HS, and Hunter is in Middle school.  As ANY Mom can imagine, some of this has been very difficult for Shannon to handle~ This is Zack's Senior year.  The doctors have been understanding and on May 16th she was given limited release time to come home to see Zack for his Senior Prom. He also will be having Graduation on June 27th, plus she & Kevin are still trying to plan his graduation party for July....  Kevin's not only working his full-time job with the City of Little Falls BPW, but after work,  he's taking care of their home, covering school activities/sporting events, and then he has to take a certain number of hours of training to be able to take care of Shannon when she comes home.  Thank God for family, friends, and a strong support system~ but sometimes, it's still not always enough~
If, and/or, when Shannon can work again isn't known at this time, and that thought alone is devasting to Shannon, but we've told her not to focus on that right now. Her focus is on needed on her and her Recovery.  Obviously, without her income, the medical bills starting to pile up already, graduation around the corner, their home having to become handicap accessible, etc~ You can just imagine how overwhelmed both she and Kevin are.  That's why I wanted to reach out and ask for your help~ Not only is she a friend, a previous co-worker of mine for MANY years, a Team Fighter with us in the never ending battle against cancer with our Relay for Life team~ Team Family Ties, but she's also FAMILY~ she's married to my cousin (well- to be technical- 3rd cousin)!!  So if you can, Please Help~ Shannon is Someone that has given, unselfishly, to so many~ Even this past weekend, in her wheelchair, she gave to others- the doctors let her come, for a few hours, to our Relay for Life Golf Tournament~ because she felt she needed to support her team!!
