A Cappella Academy 2017
Right before the new year started, I, along with 587 other talented musicians from around the world, auditioned for a highly competitive musical summer camp called A Cappella Academy in Los Angeles, California. Graciously I was one of 78 students to be admitted into this one-of-a-kind summer program—placing my audition in the top 13%. Here is said audition!
Being accepted into the A Cappella Academy is a dream come true as a developing musician. For as long as I can remember, my drive has been to create, perform, and connect with others via music. All starting in kindergarten when 6-year-old me was desperately eager to perform for the class during show and tell. And as I waddled up to the front of the classroom and sang my heart out, I unknowingly took the first step towards unlocking my destiny and discovering myself as a young musician.
That moment lead to years and years of school choir, which lead to solo performances and talent show winnings, creating my very own music, the decision to use my voice to spread love, hope, and unity alongside the Orlando Gay Chorus, and to ultimately put myself out there and audition and be accepted into the A Cappella Academy.
Now this is where you come in.
Not including transportation to and from Los Angeles or any other miscellaneous costs, the tuition of this camp is $1,995. Being in a family with four children, it can be hard to come up with extra funds of such amounts; and with an opportunity to travel to California and let my musical education flourish, I turn to all of you for support.
Whether it is through a donation or through a share of this page, I am beyond grateful and appreciative to each and every person who takes the time to hear my story.
I thank you dearly again, and below is a video showcasing a bit of what the A Cappella Academy is like:
