Vulcán de Fuego burn victims
Donation protected
Guatemala's Vulcan de Fuego erupted unexpectedly on June 3, leaving at least 75 dead and nearly 200 still missing. Local hospital services are overwhelmed trying to help the injured, many from suffering from severe burns.
As women working in the international sugar industry, we were looking for ways to help the victims of these volcano eruptions. We were made aware by one of our colleagues in Guatemala about the great work the Guatemala Children's Burn Hospital has been doing over the past several years and was able to secure bank details for their Foundation for us to donate to. The funds will be used to boost their staffing, securing more supplies and ultimately help them to treat as many of the victims as possible, many who don't have the money to pay for treatment themselves.
We felt a GoFundMe campaign was the best way to raise funds, so we put this together for them and will be sending them the funds on a weekly basis as they become available, so please be generous! (Photo credit: Noe Perez/EPA)
