At 2:00 am on December 25, 2018, while returning from the Christmas Eve celebration at the home of the maternal grandparents, the life of Elias Reyes family, was shocked by an unexpected tragedy: a 19-year-old driver in drunk, hit the  family truck - a Honda Pilot- at full speed, causing it to overturn, seriously injuring some of its occupants.

Sandra Reyes, the mother, was behind the wheel; along with her, his father-in-law, Julio Elías, was riding in the front seat, and in the back seats his 10-year-old son Isaac, his 12-year-old daughter Emmy and his 11-year-old niece, Ariany Ramírez. Because of the spectacular accident, Sandra suffered moderate injuries, as did her father-in-law; little Isaac miraculously escaped unharmed, but unfortunately Emmy and Ariany took the worst part: both girls were thrown out of the vehicle several meters away, hitting hard on the sidewalk, which caused serious fractures in their small skulls.

The terrible accident took place near the Amstar gas station on Niles Street and Sterling Road, Bakersfield, CA. Emmy's father, Frank, who saw the impact closely, as he was driving in another vehicle behind them; He narrated the impotence he felt when he saw the vehicle where his beloved family was driving, disappearing before his eyes, unable to do anything.

In the emergency room at Kerns Hospital in Bakersfield, Emmy's life hung in the balance; She was on the verge of death and had to be transferred by helicopter to another more specialized medical center.

Emmy is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Valley Children's Hospital in Madera, California. In these few days, she has undergone surgery several times, including a delicate brain surgery, to be able to take care of the multiple wounds that she presents as a result of the accident.

For its part, Ariany is also being treated in Intensive Care at the Loma Linda University Medical Center in San Bernardino, CA.

None of the girls is currently conscious, and all your prayers are necessary, because there is still a long way to their full recovery. We are asking for donations to help Emmy's parents while they have to be away from work. Thank you very much for donating, God will reward all your effort to support us.
